Finishing Touches

Team Meeting: Monday 30th November 2009
Location: C167 CIT
Time: 4-5pm
Members Present: Declan McCarthy, Marian Ahern, Niamh Begley, Lindsay Murray

In this class we completed the last few pages of our web sites. Myself and Niamh had completed our task of creating the "Who's Wearing It" page last week and we showed Marian and Lindsay our effort. However after discussion, it was felt that parts of the page weren't suitable. Slight changes where made and we continued on.
This page includes a colorful blue and pink background and pictures of Victoria Beckham and Cheryl Cole giving their personal opinion on the perfume. We also included magazines reviews of the perfume here.

"Competition Time" Page was next to be completed. This includes a bright picture of the Housewives and gives details of a prize of the chance of winning Universal Studies to visit the cast of the show and a over night stay in a top luxury hotel.

The final page was completed as the "Contact Us" page. The background is a a picture of the housewives. We have details of how to contact us, including our email address and a free phone telephone number.

This completed our website and we all felt very proud and happy of the end result. We showed our end result to our lecturer Colin, and he advised us to make slight changes including color and font. We did this and handed up our completed website to Colin on Tuesday morning the 1st of December.

This concluded our group project and we feel as a team we worked very well. We all listened to each other and nothing was included in the website unless everyone approved of it. We worked well as a team and i was very proud of the end result of our website. Changes were made throughout the project from start to finish, but we feel our final effort was our best and we hope that all the hard work and effort put into creating this website will pay off with a good mark.

Transfer of data

Date:30/11/09
Location:C172
Time:2:00-3:00
Members Present:Lindsay Murray, Niamh Begley,Marian Ahern (Declan Mc Carthy cudnt attend because of profound circumstances)

In this meeting Niamh explained the discussion she had with Colin on Monday with Lindasy and Marian. We then started transferring our website from Publisher over to a Publisher template website. Once we had the hyperlinks instered we found it really easy just to transfer over our data. We got pages 1-5 done in this hour and were quite happy with progress made. We had to adjust some of our text boxes and we decided not to use apples as our hyperlinks to each page as there was so much colour and pictures in every we went for a plain red text box.

Chat with lecturer

23rd of November 2009
Class 3-5pm
Location C162
Members present Declan McCarthy and Niamh Begley

Today in class Declan and I had a chat with Colin our lecturer. We showed him our publication so far as we wanted to get some feed back and advice from him.
Colin explained to us how we should have started our website on a publisher web site template as appose to a regular Publisher. When he explained this to us Declan and I began to worry and asked him what changing this at this late stage would intail.
Colin helped us to set up our template and gave us some great advice.
He also explained to us how the links work and navigate.
There is not as much changes involved as we initially would have expected.
We have the body of our information and pictures done its just a matter of transforming them from our publication onto our new publisher site.

For the remainder of the class Declan and I continued on creating the "Who's wearing it" page before our next team meeting with our other members tomorrow.

Progress So Far

Team Meeting

Members present: Declan McCarthy, Lindsay Murray, Niamh Begley and Marian Ahern
Date: Thursday 19th of November 2009
Location: CIT
Time: 1pm

We finally all met up this day and started on our project. We decided that Microsoft Publisher was the best option for us as we have used this application before and it's very user friendly and accessible. We decide that we would work together on creating the pages and later assign different task to different members.

We founded a logo for the top of each page for the we will use. It says "Desperate Housewives" and included a picture of the 4 main characters. We are not going to have a template rather we are going to use a different image/colour scheme for each of our pages. We feel that this would look more like a real website and give it some originality.

Page 1 - Home

This page took the longest for us to create as this is the main page of our website and has to make a lasting impression. We googled to find a picture of the Desperate Housewives which would be eye catching and colourfully attractive to use as our background. We found a appropriate image and used it. We also googled to find a style of writing which is different and which would not be available on the Microsoft package. We found a website which specialised in a huge range of alternative style's. We all agreed on one and used it for our opening page. We also included a image of the perfume bottle as this is what our website is based on.

Page 2 - The Girls Behind The Fragrance

For this page we looked at how the image of a woman has changed throughout the decades. We try'd to portray just how dramatically a woman's role has changed in society and how the Housewives symbolise the modern housewife. We used a image of a housewife from the 1950's in a apron doing her role of a dedicated wife.

Page 3 and 4 - Buy Deadly Sins Now!!

This is going to be 2 pages as we have a lot to include in this heading.
Page 3 - will have a background of the perfume bottle. This page describes the scent of the perfume and its commercial appeal to the modern housewife.

Page 4 - Describes different outlets were our perfume will be distributed and available. On this page also we give details of a exclusive offer to online customers who wish to buy the perfume. This page has no background as such but we have different logos of department stores where the perfume will be available.

After creating this page we felt we had a lot done and decided that we would stop for the day. The task of creating the "Who's Wearing It" page was given to Declan and Niamh and it was agreed that on Tuesday the 24th of November we would all meet again and review their work and continue on.

Updated Site Map

After changing the idea of our original website which was a gossip column, after realising this idea was not very suitable for the brief we were given. We decided to do our website on desperate housewifes perfume we brainstormed for a name and eventually settled on "Deadly Sins" we all agreeded that this was a striking and appealing name for the perfume.
Our website will include the following pages;

Page 1 - Home
Page 2 - The Girls Behind The Fragrance
Page 3 & 4 - Buy Deadly Sins Now!!
Page 5 - Who's Wearing It
Page 6 - Competition Time
Page 7 - Contact Us
